Development of a contemporary scheme for a narrow strip of land wedged between the rear of existing semi-detached Victorian properties to the south and the generous green expanse of the reservoir to the north. This context posed unique challenges, and the arrangement and design of the buildings is broken into two blocks, creating a generous open playspace between, fragmenting the apparent wall of development.
The buildings are two simple blocks with a brick base and a bold cladding to the upper levels, wrapping the facade and the projecting balconies. The windows to the northern side are generous providing good daylight internally and enabling long views across the reservoir. The scheme is for affordable housing meeting the stringent criteria of the RSL.
